A little bit about us
Hello! We are Matt & Abby, a husband and wife team based in Hertfordshire, and owners of A Little Brush. We started this little business back in 2017, in the midst of our wedding planning. After Matt painted a beautiful watercolour of our venue to use on our order of service, the idea was born! Why not offer paintings like this as prints for other couples to enjoy?
Matt has a degree in Fine Art, and paints most evenings after work to develop his creative practice. He has hand-painted each artwork in our shop, of which there are now over 170, from castles to pubs, hotels to manor houses.
Abby has a background in graphic design, and up until the end of 2024 was an Art Editor for the UK’s biggest lifestyle magazine. Abby now runs the business full time, turning Matt’s paintings into prints, doing all photography, social media, and customer service. She also designs bespoke wedding stationery, often using the watercolour venue artworks.
We sold exclusively through our Etsy shop until we launched our own website in early 2021.
A Little Brush has grown in many ways over the years. We grew our portfolio of original house portraits in 2020 when weddings were brought to a standstill and the UK stayed at home. We’ve started a pub series, launched original garden portraits, and are so excited to now offer custom pet portraits too. We’ve invested to make our business more eco-friendly, and our packaging is 100% plastic-free.
We are proud to work alongside wedding venues, supplying prints to couples whose weddings were postponed during the pandemic, and creating Christmas cards & event signage. We are recommended suppliers for South Farm, Blake Hall, Fanhams Hall, and for the venues of Cripps & Co.
